There are plenty of software platforms to get accustomed to. Probably in the hundreds or so… but, if I had to choose 3 to really sink my teeth in THIS minute to start getting nicely paid gigs on Upwork, I would learn the following:
1. Infusionsoft
I go into Infusionsoft a lot, but I can’t tell you how many online businesses are craving good people to help them with this software platform.
It can do so many things, from campaign automation, eCommerce, affiliate tracking,…etc. Basically, if you master this platform, you’ll be able to have a continuous flow of high paying clients.
2. WordPress
Millions of web pages are created on this platform. And it’s really not that difficult to start learning some of the important pieces that can help you distinguish yourself among the talent on Upwork. I only got started with working with WordPress no more than 7 years ago, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
3. Gravity Forms
When it comes to selling almost ANYTHING online or gathering information from a webpage, Gravity Forms is an UNBELIEVABLY powerful program that doesn’t require a lot of tech background to fully understand. Sure there are some technical layers that come with it, but if you start taking jobs that require this skill, you’ll be amazed at how quickly you’ll learn.
That goes for a lot of the software platforms I discuss in different blog articles and in my courses. Most of the time you have one understanding of how a software platform is used, but then you’ll work with a client who utilizes the same platform in a completely different way.
The true objective is to learn how to learn in a lot of these circumstances because most of the time you’ll need to hack together different platforms in order for them to work properly. This is why it’s so important to fully understand the fundamentals of the project vs. the tools that we’re using. This is why we call it “carpentry” and not “hammer & nails”.
